This irregularly shaped room at the Massachusetts Archives building was made available for weekday university teaching needs however the existing Archives furnishings did not meet the seminarteaching requirements. New classroom tables with folding legs, that are easily stored when not in use, were specified to provide seminar work surfaces. The Archive’s existing stack chairs were utilized to reduce new furniture storage requirements and to minimize furnishings costs. Several layout studies were made working with standard size table units to determine the best way to maximize the seminar seating capacity for the room while meeting egress, accessible seating, and sightlines requirements.
